Fit District
We love Fit District for its pre-teen and teen programming. This is not something you see offered at many gyms in the city. A coach with experience coaching kids makes this a stand out class. Ensuring our teens, tweens and pre-teens are learning the proper form, techniques and movements that will lay the groundwork for a healthy lifestyle. These classes also work wonders on building confidence in young people.These classes are capped at 20 students per session and last about an hour.
Bloor St. Boxing and Fitness
This iconic landmark is recognizable to anyone living in the west end, and even those just passing through, Everyone has seen Bloor Street Boxing’s massive fibreglass boxing gloves on display right out front of the gym at the top on Roncy. This space is surprising large. With two full storys of workout space available, BSF is able to offer quite the roster of classes. There are yoga classes, classic boxing classes and Tonebana classes, a fun class that combines boxing with dance and music. They also have Muay Thai classes, which is something different than the average cardio class at a boxing gym. With Muay Thai you learn the proper punching, kicking , footwork and stance techniques along with Thai pad and punch mitt training. This is a very technical class as well as a very intense, cardio class. Try something new!
Fuel Fitness
This is a very well-quipped gym with a great program for beginners. Unlike most gyms, Fuel offers a deeply discounted two week trial with unlimited classes and acess. How else will you know if something is for you unless you are able to fully explore what they have to offer. Their small group classes are a standout on this list. You can get an excellent workout in in a friendly group setting that doesn’t feel overwhelming. With the small group size, trainers are able to watch over your form and make sure you are getting the best out of their classes. The classes here lean more toward high intensity with a bit of CrossFit style training as well. Challenge yourself and check out a small group class at Fuel.
