Our Favourite Bloor West Village Coffee Shops

We love a good neighbourhood coffee shop and often find ourselves on the hunt for the next best cup all over the west end. Bloor West Village offers a variety of great coffee options that go beyond coffee, where you can grab a breakfast sandwich or your favourite coffee beans, along with your coffee.

Supporting local neighbourhood businesses is certainly top of mind these days, and the simplest way to do that is through a cup of coffee – the perfect winter accessory. Here’s our guide to coffee shops and cafes in The Village:

The Regular

Although not directly on Bloor St, this note-worthy coffee shop is located on Annette St in Upper Bloor West Village and down the street from the Nested office (its our regular).  This place has a distinctively cool vibe, always great tunes playing, the best chocolate & walnut cookie ever (baked in house) and each coffee served up, is perfect. Best part, The Regular conveniently offers a pretty impressive take-out selection of Sake, wine and beer. As a new-comer to the neighbourhood, it’s quickly gaining a great reputation for more than just coffee.

Baka Gallery Cafe

Probably the most famous Bloor West Village Brunch and coffee spot, with a large corner street patio (perfect for a good session of people watching) and located right in the heart of the action on the corner of Beresford Ave.  A true neighbourhood staple, always buzzing with locals – clearly a sign of something good. You can expect to find a cafe style menu serving up homemade meals, breakfast options, pastries and of course great coffee and tea.  Baka Gallery Cafe is also a great supporter of local artists, regularly displaying local artwork, offering a truly unique experience.

Bread & Roses Bakery Cafe

Needs no introduction as it’s been around for forever and is always busy, obviously because it has a huge selection of ‘delicious’ everything. Bread & Roses is a bakery, lunch spot and coffee shop all in one, with a notable selection of bakes goods and cakes, cafe style lunch options, including homemade soup, sandwiches and pierogies (just to name a few) and of course a variety of coffee options. A must try is their famous breakfast bagel sandwich and home made soups (perfect grab and go breakfast or lunch).  Also famous for their breads, which are are known to sell out and  pre-oder birthday cakes.

Coffee Tree Roastery

This long standing coffee shop and roastery opened it’s doors in 1988 and through the years has developed a huge following of coffee lovers.  From the moment you step inside, you know you are in a roastery as the intense aroma of coffee hits you.  They offer a huge selection of coffee and tea, and are famous for their take home beans of all varieties, including – blended, single, dark, medium. Their signature blend is the dark roast ‘Millionaires Mixture,’ distinctively aromatic with a sharp bite at $26 for 5lb bag – also perfect for a Christmas gift. Whatever’s your flavour, you will definitely find it here at Coffee Tree Roastery.
